MCSA is dedicated to providing quality training for its members and the general public. All of our instructors are volunteers which allow us to keep our class fees low. The instructors encourage taking training whether you have been shooting your whole life or are a neophyte. Our passion for the sport shines through as we share our knowledge of subject at hand. All of our instructors are NRA Certified.

NRA Basic Pistol Course
When: Saturday and Sunday, June 10 & 11, 2023
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Where: Mason County Sportsman's Association Indoor Range (Near the Shelton Airport off Hwy 101)

Fee: $100 Pre-registration and payment is required, on a first-come, first-served basis.
YOU MUST BE LEGALLY ABLE TO POSSESS A FIREARM TO ATTEND
Course Description: Instructor led, 2 day classroom + range class. We'll teach the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely. Students learn rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from two-handed standing positions; cleaning and caring for a pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will perform a final qualification in order to receive the Basic Pistol Certification
Basic Pistol is a prerequisite class for NRA Pistol Instructor certification.
Students under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by their parent or guardian.
Equipment required: Training firearms and ammunition are both provided, however, you may also bring your own unloaded firearm in a bag or box, with appropriate ammunition (no .357 Magnum, please). You will need eye and ear protection; a brimmed hat, such as a ball cap is also recommended. You may want to bring snacks or lunch and drinks with you, but there is no food or drink allowed in our range. There will be a 45 minute lunch period that would allow you to go out for a quick lunch. A seat cushion is not a bad idea!

Mason County Sportsman's Association Pistol for Beginners Class

Course Description: This six hour course covers gun safety, range rules, range equipment, handgun parts & operations, ammunition & ammunition malfunctions, fundamentals of shooting a handgun, basic shooting practical exercise, firearm storage & transportation, holsters, gun laws in Washington, Oregon and Interstate travel laws. How to obtain a Washington State Concealed Carry permit and the Oregon Training certification required to get an Oregon permit.
Equipment required: You must wear wrap around safety glasses, muff type hearing protection, and a brimmed hat, such as a ball cap. You may bring your own unloaded firearm in a bag or box, with approximately 50 rounds of ammunition, or you may use our equipment.
You will want to bring snacks/lunch and drinks with you, but there is no food or drink allowed in the range. A seat cushion is not a bad idea!

Multi-State Concealed Carry Class

Time: 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Where: Mason County Sportsman's Association Indoor Range (Near the Shelton Airport off Hwy 101)

Fee: $70 Pre-registration and payment is required, on a first come, first served basis.
This class covers: -WA Gun Laws -OR Gun Laws -Inter-State Travel Laws -Firearm/ Ammunition/ Holster Selection -Interaction with Law Enforcement -How far away from you is a person a threat to you, with a knife -Use of Deadly Force
This class is the required class to get a multi-State (UT or AZ) concealed carry permit, OR is included free of additional charge. For the multi-State permit, we fingerprint and photo you for use with your permit application, but you will then apply by mail to UT or AZ State Patrol, they will send your permit back by return mail.
WA State residents must have a current Washington CHL to apply for the UT or AZ CHL. For OR, you must be a resident of OR or an adjacent touching state (WA, ID, NV or CA) or you may not apply. OR does not recognize any other state permit and requires a training class such as this one prior to applying for a permit. You must apply in person to initiate the Oregon Concealed Carry Permit, but they will send out by mail after the initial application. This is a non-shooting class.
You may choose between two options at this class for getting either the Utah Concealed Carry permit OR the Arizona Concealed Carry permit. Either option includes Oregon and is the same price for UT or AZ. Either option includes: applications, passport quality photo and fingerprinting. Please refer to the map below for which states are included with each option.

Fee: $175 for MCSA members, $250 for non-members.

YOU MUST BE LEGALLY ABLE TO POSSESS A FIREARM TO ATTEND
Course Description: 2 day class, learning to become a certified Pistol Instructor. Pistol Instructor candidates must possess and demonstrate a solid background in firearm safety and shootig skills acquired through previous firearm training, such as NRA Basic Pistol, which is a prerequisite for this class. NRA Certified Instructors are expected to teach within the policies and procedures outlined by NRA, uphold the quality and integrity of firearm safety and training standards, promote firearm safety and shooting sports; and report training data to NRA. This course includes BIT trainint.
Advance registration is required, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Equipment list & class information will be provided upon receipt of papyment and registration.
